Since I have a very open floor plan, my ceiling in the living room is about 20 feet high and flows into the second floor of the house over a large balcony. This stereo definitely has the power to fill the room with sound. I can easy fill the entire house with sound. I haven't yet used this for music, only movies and T.V. I used to sell Denon products and own a Denon amp and a large home theatre set up in my basement. I wanted something for the living room that I could hook up a DVD, DVR, and X-box to. I would recommend upgrading your cables (it comes with very basic stuff), but there should plenty of money left over to do that. The only thing it's missing is audio support through HDMI (it's video passthrough only), but you have to pay as much for a receiver as I did for this whole system to get that. I must say, after setting everything up, which did take quite a bit of time, I am stunned at the level of performance. I purchased this product for $750 and there is absolutely nothing I can say that could give this HTIB justice. Runs DTS-MA and TrueHD with ease through the PS3 w/ the use of an HDMI cable. My first purchase was Onkyo's HTIB system that included the TX-SR506 7.1 receiver, speakers/subwoofer and single-disk DVD player. My family really enjoyed the first receiver until our satellite dish got struck by lightening and took out the receiver. Yeah, that sucked. I tried to take a short cut and re-use some old speakers that were integral to an older DVD home theatre setup, but the old speakers did not work well with the reciever (intermittent audio dropouts, and ultimately audio stopped working altogether). I got a 5 speaker set (I already had a powered subwoofer), so I went with the Polk RM75s. HUGE difference once I hooked up quality speakers to the reciever. ...more
